Consistent Instruction, Consistent Improvement
Instruction from a consistent person is imperative to a successful learning strategy. As stated before there are many variables that can affect how a child learns. We want to control as many of them as possible. Students not only learn better and faster with a consistent tutor, but they build important friendships as well.
Trust builds over time
Many students don’t especially like the idea of meeting with a stranger and talking about difficulties they have in the classroom. After all, receiving help can be intimidating when you don’t know anything about the person who will be helping you.
Meeting with the same person every week allows a rapport and a sense of trust to develop. The longer the two meet, the more the student will be able to open and adequately explain his or her frustrations, and the more willing they will be to receive instruction.
Tutors don’t have relearn students’ learning styles
Effective tutors continually adapt their style of teaching to allow the student to understand them and the material better. Once a tutor fully understands a student’s style of learning, progress usually skyrockets. This understanding only comes after the student and the tutor have spent enough time together. Environments where tutors are constantly being switched do not allow this relationship to develop.
